It has two right-angle turns and relatively high head losses. The Y-style valve is less restrictive and the stem is oriented at a 45-degree angle to the body. A ball-style valve is the most common type of mechanically reversible valve.


Manual-Style Valve

A manual-style valve is typically operated by a handle or lever. The valve body is a flexible plastic or metal shell with a rubber seal inside. When closed, a manual valve is used to control the flow of liquids. However, it is not ideal for high-temperature fluids. A diaphragm valve should be installed only if you know the type of liquid it will contain. It is not a safe alternative for a gas-sealed or a pipe with a piping design that can accommodate such a configuration.
