Types of Pipe Fittings and Pipe Accessories

When you're looking to install a water supply line in a home or business, you should consider buying pipe fittings and pipe accessories. These products are available in a variety of materials, including copper and brass, ABS plastic, chrome-plated brass, and stainless steel. Many plumbing codes also specify the type of coupling that must be used. You can also choose between straight and angled couplings, and if you're not sure which is best for your project, ask your plumber.

Types of Pipe Fittings

There are two types of pipe fittings: tees and crosses. Tees are used when you need a longer pipe, while crosses are used for connecting two pipes with different sizes. Tees have three openings, one inlet and two outlets, and are the most commonly used type of fittings. They can also be made of copper or ABS plastic. In addition, tees are more expensive than crosses, so you should always choose these when you need a longer pipe.

Nipples

Nipples are short pieces of pipe that are male- or female-threaded, and they're most commonly used for connecting two pipes. Adapters come in a variety of sizes and threading types, and are available in a variety of materials, including copper. In addition, you can also use them to connect two different types of pipes. In addition, they are useful for plumbing, hoses, and other applications.

Clamps and other pipe fittings connect piping to a connector. They compress the rubber inside the connection, ensuring a secure seal. These are useful for tight spaces, and they can accommodate slight misalignments. Nipples and caps connect two fittings. They have male and female threads, and are available in many lengths. Most are threaded, which makes them easier to install. These fittings and accessories are the foundation of a water system.

Adapters

Adapters are versatile pipe fittings that change the end type of the pipe. By allowing you to attach different fittings to a single pipe, you'll have an infinite number of options for piping. A flange is a female-to-male adapter. The male-threaded adapter connects two pipes using a male-to-female connector. A female nipple is used to connect two fittings to each other.

Elbows

Elbows are important for making connections between two pipes. The elbows are commonly used to change direction. The most common elbows are 90-degree and 180-degree ones. Most types are available in steel, stainless steel, and malleable cast iron. Most of these elbows have a threaded connection, and the socket is a hot-melt fitting. Several different types of connectors are available for your piping system.

An elbow has a bend that resembles an arm joint. It changes direction by connecting two pipes. There are several different degrees of elbows, including 90-degree and 22.5-degree. There are also different types of reduction and straight-angled elbows for different piping diameters. Most are female, with a male-to-female connection. Generally, elbows are threaded or have a screw, but some are mechanical.
